The last two Mondays I have been helping out at the Pathfinders Youth Canoe Club. This club is run for those between the ages of 11 and 18.
PYCC runs with the help of many members of Kingfisher Canoe Club both of which share the same site in Abingdon.
The club runs on Monday nights during [...]

Last weekend I attended the whitewater safety & rescue symposium in Llangollen organised by Canoe Control. It was very good. We did a lot of this…

I learnt some new first aid knowlege and learnt some new rescue techniques. We also saw one of these…

Been Busy…

Or just slack depending on your point of view. Anyway despite the lack of updates I have been out paddling recently.
Sunday 2nd Sept - OCP hired out the Nene Whitewater Centre for the afternoon and various youth, scout and other groups turned up with coaches and paddlers of all abilities. Somehow Lee and I managed [...]

Pathfinders night: Dave assessed three of the lads from the two star course and they passed - well done.

2 star course again mixed witha little weir play - balstathon traing

Helped out with Pathfinders last night. Whilst the Dave’s and Lee took a trip to Abingdon weir (apparently on one gate) I gave Vicki a hand with the three lads doing the 2 Star training. A quick paddle up the Ock to practice strokes then eskimo and deep water rescues.

Monday’s session with the Pathfinders took us to Abingdon weir. This was the first time I’ve been to the big-A this year, t’was a little on the boisterous side and of course ‘not as good as Hurley’.
The Pathfinders seemed to enjoy themselves, though not many tried their luck inthe weir. They did go for a [...]

Summers here and once again I’m helping out Dave and Vicki run the Pathfinders Youth Canoe Club. Monday nights are not going to be free again until September now.
Anyway we ran a quick shuttle up to just below the Mill on the Ock and paddled back down to the Thames and up to the club [...]
