After two months of cold, Christmas and flu inspired hibernation I finally managed to get back in a boat last weekend. Twenty five members of Kingfisher Canoe Club ventured to Wales for an introduction to white water trip along with 3 star and 4 star assessments with the aid of Rob Yates of Elements.

Torrential rain brought most of the rivers in to spate. For once though this was a little unwelcome as this meant a large number of rivers were out of remit for the assessments being run. Despite this we managed to paddle the Lower Irfon and the Usk from Sennybridge to Brecon.
Everyone seemed to have a great time which is what it’s all about on these trips. I passed the assessment for BCU four star despite being a little nervous about it (I hate any kind of exam). Thanks are due to Roger and Rob Yates for making the entire thing as stress free as possible.
I didn’t manage to take any photos on the water however I did manage to take plenty skiing the week before:

Before skiing I spent New Year in North Wales with friends walking and relaxing and generally having a good ol’ time:

Actually now I think about it maybe it wasn’t that quiet a month after all. More photos from Skiing HERE and Wales HERE.
