Bachelard

I recently returned from a two week trip to the Alps, one in Val Sesia and one in the French Alps. In an attempt to paddle as many sections of river that I’d never paddled before we found ourselves on the Bachelard. Andy Wicks and Jethro, our resident experts on the this tributary of the Ubaye described it as “Just like the Tryweryn.”

And it was… Apart from the steepness, the speed of the water and the fact that most of it was enclosed in a steep gorge. What it was, was a huge amount of fun.

More information on the Bachelard can be found on page 178 of White Water South Alps 3rd Edition.
